How to connect multiple Data Source (DSN) in one Report while configuring gateway

I understand that you are encountering problems when you want to use a gateway to connect multiple data sources to a report.

Please try the following:

On the Power BI service, click on the gear icon in the top right and navigate to “Manage Gateways”.

If you already have a SQL Server setup, you should have a gateway cluster that could be named as the server. In the cluster, you can have multiple data sources.

For each database on the same machine, you need to add a data source, configure the settings appropriately (same name for the server, but different database name).

The most important part is that the naming that you do in the data source configuration has to match up exactly to what you have used in your connection string in Power BI Desktop.

Once you publish your Power BI report, in the Datasets settings, you will be able to see the list of data sources you have access to. You need to select the data sources that correspond to your report.

Once all required data sources have been set up and selected, click on apply to bind this dataset to the selected data source on the gateway.
