How to View As on a Report using a shared dataset?

Hi,

I need to double check my RLS set up on a Report using a shared dataset. The only way I know how to View As is via the dataset itself, and therefore it'll lead me to the main Report, not the one I actually want to check.

What's the solution here?

Thanks.

Hi @JulienZH ,

Based on your description, first you need to know how the shared dataset used is created. Because for rls, the RLS can only be defined on the dataset created by Power BI Desktop.

Also for what you mean by jumping to the main report of the dataset, can you provide some screenshot information and describe it.

For more details, you can read below document:

Looking forward to your reply.

Best Regards,
Henry

not quite sure i understand, the access is applied at the data level, not the report level. ,   How are you testing exactly?  It might be good to create a test account and use that to check.  But not quite clear how you are being lead to the main report?

If I took the time to answer your question and I came up with a solution, please mark my post as a solution and /or give kudos freely for the effort 🙂 Thank you!
