How to Take Over Report Ownership in Power BI Service

Hello,

I need help with taking control of Power BI Service artifacts. Taking over the ownership of datasets and dataflows is straightforward and intuitive; you just need to go to settings and click on Take Over, as shown in images 1 and 2 attached. However, I’m having trouble changing the ownership of reports.

I’ve tried removing the access of the current owner from the workspace containing the report, but this didn’t change the ownership, as illustrated in image 3. I need to know if it's possible to do this because the account that currently owns the reports will be discontinued and won’t have a premium license anymore. Since this account still owns several reports, removing the premium license from this account will make the report links inaccessible.

Could someone please assist me with how to change the ownership of reports? Thank you very much!1 - Dataset1 - Dataset2 - Dataflow2 - Dataflow3 - Report3 - Report

Hi @drbudi ,

As @lbendlin  said. You can try to use RLS if you need to limit the report, it will protect the privacy of the data.

Hope it helps!

There is no such thing as report ownership. It is not needed, as all the authentication happens against the semantic model data sources.

Thank you for your response. I just have a few more considerations. I use some public links to share non-sensitive information with certain users, and this property of the reports ends up interfering with that. For example, the account I mentioned that will be unlinked appears as the owner of several of these reports, while the semantic model already has the correct owner. However, when I remove the premium license from the account that will be unlinked, all the public links stop working because they are tied to the account that will be removed. In this case, the ownership of the report is interfering with our process.
