How do I turn off the 'Recommended' section in the Home page? For everyone?

Hi ladies and gents,

The Home tab has this 'Recommended' section, where you can see that 'John Smith opened this' report.

However, it is not useful for us, and it have come confidentiality issues - not everyone should see who is opening what, no?

Does anyone know how to turn it off for all users?

Huge thanks in advance,

Alice

Hi, @AliceW

Unfortunately, this is by design. Power BI is now unable to achieve what you need. You can submit an idea for it at https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums and wait for users with the same needs as you to vote for you to help make it happen as soon as possible.

There is a workaround using an adblocker -- I've used uBlock Origin, which gives you the option to block content on webpages (right-click on item you wish to block, select 'Block Element').

We should customize the Power BI home page in our organization. Specifically, to either remove the Recommended section or at least select the content displayed in that section. And it should be mandatory for all users within our organization.

Currently, every user can view which reports were opened by others. It raises a significant privacy concern in our German cultural environment, which is heightened by the fact that this information is prominently displayed on the landing page.

My concern was also mostly related to our German colleagues...

Hi, @AliceW

By default, anyone with the Admin, Member, or Contributor role in a workspace in your organization can feature content on Power BI Home.

This setting enables you enable/disable the ability of users in your organization to promote their published content to the Featured section of the Power BI Home page.

You can try to disable this feature here.
