We have a Power BI Premium capacity which will be converted to a Fabric capacity early next year. Within our organization there are different departments each with their own budgets. We have created VNet data gateways for some of these clients in other departments. According to VNet data gateway documentation, the bill is automatically charged to the capacity linked to the virtual network data gateway. The documentation goes on to say "When you signed up for your capacity, you paid for some capacity unit hours. When you use your virtual network, this prepaid amount is consumed. This side of the metrics can only be seen from the consumption metrics app."
Looking at the MS Fabric Capacity Metrics app, I do see a "VNet Data Gateway" Item under a "VNet Data Gatway" workspace. However, looking in Power BI, I do not see any workspaces named "VNet Data Gateway". If other clients create other VNet data gateways in their subscriptions, how will I be able to differentiate between them?
We would like to develop a chargeback model for departments who use VNet data gateways. What is the best way to track the consumption per VNet data gateway and determine the costs?
The only way to develop a charge back process for vnet data gateways is to have them using seperate capacites. In my opinion...
Hi @Lorenz33
What I wouldrecommend doing is to export the data from the premium metrics app which contain the capacity units consumed for your vnet gateways. You could then report on it per app workspace?
If you are looking for someone to do this for you, I do have a solution I have developed to capture capacity metrics and do analysis. Accelerators - FourMoo | Fabric | Power BI
