How adding a new warehouse table/view to an existing custom Power BI semantic model in Fabric

Hi,

in Fabric I've tried to use the available options to add a new warehouse table/view to an existing custom Power BI semantic model, in order to update the related Power BI report. A such operation it doesn't seem very simple.

Any helps to me, please? Thanks

Assuming your custom semantic model is in direct lake mode.

If you want to add new tables/views from warehouse to an existing custom semantic model, then follow these steps

1. Enable edit data model in power bi service option in workspace settings

2. Hover over the dataset and click on three dots and click on 'Open data model'

3. You will find an option to manage tables, click on it and you will find all the tables avaraible in the warehosue select the tables/view and click on confirm. thats it

if the storage mode is import then I would suggest you to open the pbix file form power bi desktop and add the new tables/view by connecting to the warehosue directly.

Hi,

the Power BI option is already checked:

When I select the existing custom semantic model and the Open data model option I cannot see any Edit tables voice in the menù. Thanks

As I mentioned in my previous response, if the storage mode of you tables is not direct lake then you will not be able add new tables from service. Just check the storage mode from advances settings

for import mode datasets, open the pbix file from desktop and add new tables by connecting to the warehosue.

Hi, the storage mode is import.

In Fabric, does it occur to use the PBI desktop to edit a PBI semantic model, yet?

It depends on how you published your model into power bi service. If you dont the pbix file then download it from power bi service and then add the tables. If it is not possible then use tabular editor and add the tables and push the changes.
