Hi, Can you please let me know how I can update my Microsoft Fabric Capacity Metrics Template App. I got a notification like There is a newer version of app source. Please let me know the steps. Also my collegue installed this app he is the owner right now but I have also admin acccess can I do it or not.

Hi Olufemi7 Thank you for your input here is my question how current app owner must add me as Owner of the app in Power BI Service or how to Transfer app ownership to my name. Is it under manage access for this app then add my name as admin or how. From the article it mentioned only install, share and update template app in your organization but not showing how to handover someone else as ownership before leaving this organization.

Hello ManasRout, Ownership of a template app is tied to the workspace, not the individual who originally installed it. If the original app owner has left the organization, you can still gain control as long as a Power BI Service Admin or Microsoft 365 tenant Admin assigns you as Admin in the workspace where the app resides.Once you are a workspace Admin:You have full rights to manage the app.You can run Update from source when a new version is available.You do not need the former owner’s account.Key distinction:Semantic model takeover → refresh control onlyWorkspace Admin → full app management, including updatesThis aligns with Microsoft documentation: tenant or workspace admins can manage workspaces and assign admin roles even if the original creator is unavailable.Manage workspaces

To update the Microsoft Fabric Capacity Metrics template app:
You must run the update from the Power BI service where the app was installed.
The update option appears when there’s a newer version published on AppSource.
Only the user who installed the app (the app owner) can run the update. Admin access alone does not give update rights
Steps:
Open Power BI service.
Go to Apps.
Find the Microsoft Fabric Capacity Metrics app.
Click the update notification banner or the three-dot menu.
Choose Update and follow the prompts

If another person originally installed the app:
Ask them to run the update.
Or have them make you an app owner first.
