Hiding page navigation in Service

Hi all,

Is there a way I can hide the page navigation on the left of the report pages in the PowerBI service.

I have an index page at the start of the report, that has page navigation in it, and we want people to use this and not the navigation pain on the left.. I don't want to hide the pages, just the navigation that shows on all reports in the service.

Thanks!
Sarah 🙂

Hi @sarah2_williams

If you have more than one visible page there's no way to "hide" the page tabs. You can howeve change the location of the navigation, in the Report in Service, go to File, Settings and select "Display report pages as tabs along the bottom of the report".

That'll put the page tabs along the bottom, much like in Power BI Desktop.

However if you have more than one visible page you'll always see the tabs somewhere. I usually build page navigation (check out the new feature in the November release!) on page one and then simply hide all the other pages. If there is only one visible page the page tab won't show.

Hope this helps

Stuart

Hi Sarah
Usual workaround we use is to hide all but one tab. This disables the page panels for end users
Then you can set up your own bookmarks and icons to implement custom page nav
There are some great resources out there to simplify the topic
This official MS resource will get you there also https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/button-navigators?tabs=powerbi-desktop

Good one to know when we build our own navigation this helped. Thanks.

This is an awesome tip!! Thank you so much.

You can do this by adding &navContentPaneEnabled=false to the end of your embedded url

Thank you!

@sarah2_williams

Unfortunately you cannot do that as of now, you may suggest this as an idea here: https://ideas.powerbi.com/
