Hide Datasets for Contributor and Members

Hi all!

I have a Workspace (Pro) with some Datasets and Dataflows.

We have like 3 Admins, some Members and Contributors and a lot of Viewers.

Is there any chance to hide the Dataset for alle Members and Contributors? Or at least to disable the function to download the dataset?

Hey @joshua1990 ,

this is not possible.

The only way is to separate the data from the content (data visualizations) by using two workspaces.

Workspace 1 called data contains the dataset and the dataflows. Provide build permission to users who create content on the dataset.

Then create workspace 2 and add all the users who create content to this workspace as member, contributor.

Users who can create content can access the dataset by using Power BI Desktop connecting to the dataset from Workspace 1 and publish the reports to workspace 2.

Hopefully, this provides what you are looking for.

Regards,

Tom
