Hello,
our external client wants to get direct access to the data we provide him. One idea was to provide him Analyse in Excel access (he would be really happy to get that), but that feature is not available for guest users.
Therefore the idea is to give them access to the dataset, guest users can directly create own reports in Service by themself, BUT should not be able to share reports nor chaning the existing one. Applied RLS should be considered, as guest users are only allowed to see their own markets.
I'm really struggling about correct setup, as nothing really seams a smooth solution.
Current setup:
Guest users are within our AD setup
Workspace / report / dataset all in Premium capacity
Guest Users have viewer rights on Workspace
Guest Users have Build rights on Dataset
Guest Users are asigned to Security Role for RLS
That setup allowes to build reports on dataset, and it will be saved only in their own Workspace, BUT they can not change the report afterwards anymore. (if they could change the report afterwords, that solution would already work, if they still can't change orignial report)
1) how can a user set up look like, to have all mentioned possibilities
2) when providing the link to our PowerBI Tenant - guest users don't see workspaces, and whole left pane, which makes navigation really inconvienient - why is it like that? (when sharing access to dataset within Teams and PowerBI opens within Teams, left navigation pane is available)
Really appriciate any idea!
Thx
Hi @SuSa ,
Admin can configure edit permissions for guest users, but there are still some limitations.
Considerations and Limitations:
Distribute content to external guest users with Azure AD B2B - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and let me know immediately. Looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Henry
