    Hi, jthomson

Yes, in Power BI end users can create custom groups of data on the fly using the "Group" feature. To do this, the user can select the data points they want to group together in the matrix visual, right-click, and select "Group".

They can then name the group and the new group will appear in the matrix visual. This group can be expanded or collapsed as needed. Additionally, users can also create custom groups using the "New Group" button in the "Fields" pane, which allows them to create groups based on specific fields or criteria.

    For reference:

Use grouping and binning in Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Edit your data model in the Power BI Service (Preview) | Microsoft Power BI Blog | Microsoft Power BI
