Granting external users access to a workspace in power BI service

Hi,

I currently have setup a workspace within Power BI service and will give 3 users admin access. Two are internal and 1 external. The external user is not seeing that workspace when he logs in. I tried removing his access and adding it again, but it's not appearing for him.

I tried going to Power BI admin and changing the "Share Content with External users" setting to Enabled, but he's still not seeing the workspace. He also has the Power BI Pro license applied to him. This workspace will eventually contain the reports that the external user is working on.

I was wondering how do I get the external user to see this workspace?

Sincerely,

Jason

Hi @jasonyeung87

Are all these steps respected?

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/admin/service-admin-azure-ad-b2b

if all is good then just share with him the link/URL to the Workspace, he will have to log in with his own credentials.

Hi @aj1973 ,

Thanks for the info. I was able to give the external user access. I had to "Allow external guest users to edit and manage content in the organization".

Sincerely,

Jason

hi @aj1973,

I know it has been some time since you encountered this issue but I'm running into the same thing.

I've enbabled "Allow external guest users to edit and manage content in the organization".

And have added my external user as a guest.  I am not able to add the user to a Workspace.  It is giving me this error.  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

Hi @rrhascall

It appears that there is an issue with the group?

Is that an AAD Group.

Hi @jasonyeung87

After you have granted the external user admin access to the App Workspace, send them the link to the App Workspace. make sure it has got the tentant ID at the end of the URL which should have something similar as this

https://app.powerbi.com/home?ctid=7a31de0e-36fd-1ec3-8155-154f9fe30123
