Hi all,
I require confirmation of how security works across workspaces.
I have 2 workspaces. Data Workspace and Report Workspace.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scenario 1: Report/App and Dataset in Same Workspace
In this scenario, the reports are published into an app. The dataset and reports/app are in one workspace. The users are granted access to the App and are assigned to a role on the dataset. The users are not granted access to the workspace. The app works fine.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scenario 2: Dataset in Alternate Workspace
Same as Scenario 1 except the dataset is in a separate workspace.
However, in this scenario, the access was not sufficient. I had to also to grant view access to the workspace else the user received an error that they didn't have access to the underlying dataset. I don't want the users to have access to the workspace.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there a workaround to this? What is the logic? I really don't want people to have view access to the 'Data' workspace...
Thank you
Hi @Kaycee
Scenario 2 is better, but to let users view reports in app you will need to go to the dataset and click on the 3 dots to give permission, a new window will open and from there assign users to the dataset with read only role.

Thanks kindly @aj1973 for your reply.
I assume this is different to RLS, which was already applied? I did click the 3 dots then Manage Permissions. Is this the place where you add the person, remove all 'tick options' before granting permission?
Yes.
