Grant access to App

For each workspace, we have a development team, and a buisness owner.  And out of each workspace, we publish an app.

In order to manage permissions properly, we don't allow the business owner to edit any content of the workspace, therefore we give her viewer permission on the workspace.  Is there a way to keep the business owner as viewer on the workspace, but allow her to add users to the app?

Thank you,

Hi @BoNDoK01 ,

1. Add users to the app or change who has permission to the app at least must have Member role in the workspace

2. "Do you know if it is possible to block this popup? I mean if a user goes to an app that he desn't have access to, he sees no popup to get access."-----For this demand, it could not be achieveable, but you could submit idea in this site ideas.fabric.microsoft.com,if a idea is high voted there by other customers, it will be promising that Microsoft Product Team will take it into consideration when designing the next version in the future.

"To give the business owner the Contributor role on the app, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the app.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Permissions.
  4. In the Permissions dialog box, find the business owner's name and select the Contributor role.
  5. Click Save."

Sorry @Covenant-bi  I cannot follow these steps... Which look a lot like chatgpt responses 🙂 🙂

Yes, you can keep the business owner as a viewer on the workspace and allow her to add users to the app.

To do this, you need to give the business owner the Viewer role on the workspace and the Contributor role on the app.

The Viewer role allows users to view content in the workspace, but they cannot edit it. The Contributor role allows users to add users to the app.

To give the business owner the Viewer role on the workspace, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the workspace.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Permissions.
  4. In the Permissions dialog box, find the business owner's name and select the Viewer role.
  5. Click Save.

To give the business owner the Contributor role on the app, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the app.
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top right corner of the screen.
  3. Select Permissions.
  4. In the Permissions dialog box, find the business owner's name and select the Contributor role.
  5. Click Save.

Once you have done this, the business owner will be able to view content in the workspace and add users to the app.

Here are some additional things to keep in mind:

  • The Viewer role is the default role for users in a workspace.
  • The Contributor role is a more powerful role that allows users to add users to apps, publish content, and collaborate on content.
  • You can also give the business owner the Admin role on the workspace. This role gives the business owner full control over the workspace, including the ability to edit content and manage permissions.
