Hey Everyone,
I connected my team's GitHub Repository to the GitHub PowerBI app in order to get some metrics together on how our Issue Management is going. I followed this guide: Connect to GitHub with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
I work for Azure Communication Services and here is our Repository: Issues · Azure/Communication (github.com)
Connecting the app with default settings to this repository lists Total Open Issues as 178
f
But on GitHub, we have 55 Open issues and 82 Closed issues:
Adding both of those together gets, 137 Issues.
I thought the issue data type might be including Pull requests too so i added those which is 29(1 open, 28 closed) which still puts us at 166 Issues if I give the Power BI connector the bennefit of the doubt.
As such I'm not able to trust any of the data on this app or its reports/dashboards as it just doesn't line up with GitHub. What does the connector use to collect its list of issues as it seems incorrect.
I'm super happy to sit with anyone and diagnose or work on this as much as we can and to provide any additional information you might need to get to the bottom of this.
Thank you.
Looks like the count of open issues is actually the count of labels on open issues.
To confirm, add a drill-through and download to Excel and see the duplicated rows for every issue, and each duplicate row shows a different label attached to that issue.
I'm not sure how to work around this, it's blocking me from proceeding with using Power BI and the GitHub connector.
A bit late but perhaps still useful?
You can add a new metric using the information in this post: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/how-to-count-distinct-values-in-a-column/td-p/93120
Are you on Github Enterprise? The notes for the template app say that that is not supported.
