Git Integration - GitHub

Hello,

I am attempting to connect my GitHub repository to my Power BI Premium Capacity workspace, but the GitHub icon is greyed out. The Azure DevOps logo is selectable, however GitHub is not. Hovering over the icon says to contact the administrator for help, which I have, and they have said everything is enabled for my account.

Hi @parkergeis

If the GitHub icon is greyed out:

  1. GitHub Integration Disabled: Ensure it's enabled in the Power BI Admin PortalTenant settingsIntegration settings.
  2. No Premium Capacity: Verify the workspace is in a Power BI Premium Capacity.
  3. Account Linking: Confirm your Power BI account is linked to your GitHub account.
  4. Network or Browser Issue: Try a different browser or network.
  5. Regional Availability: Check if GitHub integration is supported in your region.

If everything is set up correctly, contact Microsoft Support.

Hi @parkergeis ,

Have you gone through these steps?

Tutorial: Connect to a GitHub repo with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

The admin has already confirmed that this is setup in the Admin portal, right?

AND, they have enabled this one:

AND, this one?

And, can you confirm that none of these limitations/restrictions are affecting you?

Git integration process - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Let us know if that resolves it.

Yes, I have confirmed with our admin these settings are enabled. See below screenshot.

The limitations do not affect me in this scenario and the tutorial linked is an application designed to visualize GitHub repo usage, not connecting a GitHub repo to a workspace.

@collinq Any update here?

Hi @parkergeis ,

Are you using Fabric?  There may be a setting or two in there as well as this article points out:

Git integration admin settings - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

You may have already gone through these settings, but this might be helpful - by setting this up then you should be able to see the icon now....

No it is not Fabric, solely PBI.

The second link would be great, however I am still seeing the GitHub icon disabled. Keep in mind from the above comment string that I have worked with the admin to enable the settings.

HI @parkergeis ,

I am wondering about some of the limitations and supported items as outlined in this article:

Overview of Fabric Git integration - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Like - do you have the right type of GitHub provider?
