Getting error "Report can't be exported to PDF" while exporting Power BI report into PDF file

Hello All,

I'm getting the below error which says "Report can't be exported to PDF", this was working fine earlier but after July 2023 update I'm getting this error which is very random and frequent now. Sometimes the export works completely fine but then after 20-25 exports it will throw this error.

I tried all the below possible solution but non of them worked

  1. Report page size is not of standard page size(16:9) so I tried to export using "Fit to page"
  2. My desktop version is updated with the latest version of July 2023
  3. My report is a single page report with no hidden pages
  4. Report size is just 31 MB and my user is the owner of the dataset so I have full access to everything

If anyone could help me with this then that would be great.

Thanks

Dinky

Hi @D_Khandelwal ,

I'd like to suggest you take a look at the official document and limitations list to confirm if your scenario meets for these limits:

Export reports to PDF - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

  • Reports larger than 500 MB currently can't be exported.
  • The process of exporting the report to PDF might take a few minutes to complete, so be patient. Factors that can affect the time required include the structure of the report and the current load on the Power BI service.
  • If the Export to PDF menu item isn't available in the Power BI service, it's likely because your Power BI admin disabled the feature. Contact your admin for details.
  • Background images are cropped with the chart's bounding area. We recommend that you remove background images before you export to PDF.
  • Reports that are owned by a user outside your Power BI tenant domain, such as a report owned by someone outside your organization and shared with you, can't be published to PDF.
  • If you share a dashboard with someone outside of your organization, and thereby, a user who isn't in your Power BI tenant, that user can't export the shared dashboard's associated reports to PDF. For example, if you're aaron@contoso.com, you can share with cassie@northwinds.com. But cassie@northwinds.com can't export the associated reports to PDF.
