Getting an error while setting up on-premise gateway

Hi,

I am trying to setup an on-premise gateway on my Power BI service.

My dataset connection is from ODBC and the data source is HDFS. While setting up the ODBC connection, I had made a User DSN connection in administrative tools.

After creating the gateway and adding up the data source in power bi service, I am getting the below error:

I am putting up the same data source name as ODBC connection. everything is same, still the issue presists.

I am not the administrator of the workstation and hence, not able to create ODBC in system DSN.

Can anybody help me as what could be the issue?

Thanks in advance

  • Hi there

As far as I know you need to create it in the System DSN.

Also make sure that when you are installing the ODBC driver that it is the 64bit version.

This is because the On-Premise Gateway only installs as a 64bit version.

    Hi Anonymous ,

The gateway which you installed is personal gateway or enterprise gateway? Could you please provide the screen shot of configure data sources for gateway in Power BI Service (exclude sensitive data)? Whether the credential information is correct?

In addition, please check if the solutions in the following thread can help you.

Personal Gateway X On Premises Gateway

Connect to 'unconfigured' ODBC source by DSN name and parameters

    Best Regards
