We had an employee that had some Power BI Data Connections tied to their laptop. Which I know is not best practice but unfortunatley that is how one of the departments did it. Their last day was last week Friday. On Sunday 3.31 I took ownership of these data connections and installed the Standard Gateway onto the server and tied it to my Office 365 login credentials. I was able to get the connections tied to the gateway and the refresh was working.
As of this morning the dataset connections are not refreshing and I am getting the below message:
Hello Lbendlin
Thank you for the added information. Right now I am the only cluster member and have access to the T network drive. But the gateway is not liking my credentials and I know 100% that they work.
What type of gateway is it, personal or enterprise?
It was originally setup as a personal gateway. So I have tried that and the standard gateway on the server and on the former employees computer with my credentials which has read and modify access to the file paths.
your credentials don't matter. The gateway usually runs under its own credentials. these need to have access.
Generally you should not connect to files directly. Use a Folder connector if you must, and a SharePoint Folder connector if you can (for the latter you will also not need a gateway).
Make sure all gateway cluster members can access the T: drive.
