Getting Git integration to connect and sync

I follow the instructions here (https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/fabric/cicd/git-integration/git-get-started?wt.mc_id=fabric_inproduct_gitintegration&tabs=azure-devops%2CAzure%2Ccommit-to-git) to connect the workspace to GIT for version control.

I have created an access token and added an account through the "Authorize GitHub user" However, in the next step where I "Connect to a workspace" the Branch and Folder options along with the "Connect and sync" and "Cancel" buttons do not show up. I have tried leaving the Repository URL blank along with trying a few different repositories, however nothing ever allows me to connect and sync. I understand that this is a preview feature and this may just be a bug I am experiencing, but I wanted to know if anyone has had this occur and if anyone has found a solution to connect the workspace after experiencing this error.

    According to your description, you have encountered an unexpected situation when using the Git integration feature in Power BI service:
    When the repository has been set up, the system doesn't have anything that allows connection.
    This is very strange, here are my suggestions for you.


    1.Check access rights: Make sure the access token you created has enough rights to access the desired repository and branch.
    2.Verify the Git repository URL: Make sure the repository URL you entered is correct and accessible. If possible, try using a different repository or create a new test repository to try it out.
    3.Browser Cache Issues: Try clearing your browser cache or logging back into the Power BI service in incognito mode and re-setting up your Git integration.
    4.Update your browser or change browsers: Sometimes browser version compatibility issues can cause some features to not display properly. Try updating your current browser or switching to another major browser.

    As you mentioned, the Git integration feature is currently in Preview, so there may be occasional surprises.

    Could you provide more details (including more details of the testing process and corresponding screenshots) so that our team can pinpoint the possible problem? (Please note that the screenshots hide necessary privacy information)

    Thanks, I have tried updated Chrome and Edge. I have created a token with all the permissions just to make sure that wasn't the issue. I mentioned in the first post that I had tried multiple repositories (some new and some with data in them). One time I attached a brand new repostitory with no data and no branches and the connection gave me an error telling me that it needed to have a branch and when I created one and tried again it just took me to the screenshot I gave before.

      Hi,jyokela Thank you for your reply.

      After discussing your issue with other members of the team, I think it may be that you are getting your Access tokens wrong.
      Please try to get Personal access tokens (classic)
      and set all the permissions, you may be having this problem because you don't have the corresponding permissions and therefore you are not accessing the content you expected.

        I am using the classic personal access token, I have tried the version with just REPO permissions and one with ALL the permissions checked, all have the same result. I have also went into the orginization settings and allowed those connections...

         

        And created another token, just in case a new one was required...
        I have tried to link to my personal repository and the orginization repositiory, nothing seems to give me any different result. I have tried both the classic and the beta tokens. When I make an error I am getting notifications in Power BI that a connection failed or cannot be made, but I have made 6 different "successful" connections and they all end up bringing be back to the same result... where I cannot sync
