Get rid of gateway

Hi Everyone,

Below is the process for our dashboards to refresh In all the Power BI steps, we are using the gateway for the refreshes

Snowflake ----> Power BI Data flows ----> Power BI Dashboards.

We also have a gateway installed as we had mulitple sources like excel sheets stored on shared drives and snowflake tables. However, we now have moved all the data to snowflake tables.

My question is how do we get rid of the gateway and the dataflow,so that we can fetch the data directly from snowflake tables directly by hitting the database.

We do not have any service account created for snowflake.

Regards,

Sanjyot

Hi @sanjyot_firke ,

You can try Configure a dataset with Azure AD by referring to the:

Connect to Snowflake with Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn

Hope it helps!

Hi @sanjyot_firke ,

You can connect to snowflake data sources through Power BI Desktop.

Please note that you will need to have the necessary credentials to connect to your Snowflake server. If you don't have a service account for Snowflake, you might need to create one or use an existing user account that has the necessary permissions to access the data.

For more information on how to connect to Snowflake from Power BI, you can refer to this official Power BI documentation: Power Query Snowflake connector - Power Query | Microsoft Learn

Hope it helps!

HI CST,

Thank you for your reply. I forgot to mention that this is needed for Power BI service.

We can connect through the desktop without the gateway, but the power bi dataflow present on the service asks for a gateway. it is not allowing us to configure the data flow without the gateway.
