Get datasets size in a tenant programmatically

Is there a way to get regular dataset size (not in Premium capacity) programmatically other than get it manually via “Manage group storage” menu in each workspace?

Hi @BryanYang,

as far as I know, the size of a dataset is not something we can get programmatically. You can refer to the documentation of the Power BI REST API:
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/rest/api/power-bi/datasets/getdataset

It would be a pretty good idea to add the ability get the dataset size to the API.  Large datasets can be candidates for dataset optimization; reduce the load for Power BI Service data refreshes.  Admins could monitorn the dataset grow rate and reach out to the developers.

Hi @BryanYang ,

Your demand is a good idea, while it is not supported to get datasets size in a tenant programmatically in Power BI currently. You can post your new idea in Idea Forum , add your comments there to improve Power BI and make this feature coming sooner.

Best Regards,
