Gateway not seeing ODBC Data Source

I have a Power BI Gateway cluster.

PBIGateway (Primary) Server A - local ODBC_Source_A

PBIGateway2  (new)    Server B - local ODBC_Source_A (configured same as above)

In Gateway connections ODBC_Soure_A shows as "Partially Online"

Server B - ODBC connection tests sucessfully

PBIGateway2  Server B does not find the local ODBC_Source_A.

Am I doing something wrong?

  • collinq  I figured it out !  It was specific to the Unidata ODBC driver I am using.

I needed to edit the ODBC configuration file "As Admin" or the permssions would get messed up.

All is working now. Thanks for your replies.

  • Hi josmond ,

Do you have the ODBC set up on BOTH the gateway servers?  Particularly the one on A?  (And, are they exactly the same - same name, same version of ODBC drivers, same bit count (64-bit), etc.)?  And, confirm that it tests successfully?

Yes, both gateway servers have the same ODBC setup, same driver, both System DSN's, both tested, and both with the same name

        Hey josmond ,

I think that you probably should open a Microsoft ticket on this one.  I don't know of any other steps to confirm that this should be working (not saying there aren't, just saying that I don't think there are any).
