Gateway not refreshing

Hi,

We use personal on premise gateways to enable refreshing of reports using data in an Micorsoft SQL Server Database.

Reports updates have stopped working for at least the last week. Below is the error message we're getting. We've tried different machines and updating the gateways to latest version but no luck. I've set up very simplified report and still no luck.

Any idea what the issue is and how to resolve it?

      Hi,

I'm able to connect power bi desktop to data source and can refresh manually in power bi desktop.

I created a test report with a small query and that won't work either so it's not a time out issue either.

      Regards,

      Ross

        Hi, rchristie

Is the report created with Import connection mode to SQL Server and refresh data with personal gateway(If the connection mode is DirectQuery, only enterprise gateway can be used to refresh)? If so, you can try the following steps.

1 Make sure the gateway is the lasted version and the status of the gateway is online (It can be seen in Gateway connection of the dataset Setting)

2 Check the status of the SQL Server whether it is running

3 Edit credentials in dataset Setting pane

4 Check whether the firewall prevents the connection to data source

        Best Regards,

        Caiyun Zheng

    Hi, rchristie

Are your privacy level settings in Power BI Desktop and privacy level selected in Edit Credential the same?

Hi datasets are set to organizational in both locations. This doesn't appear to be the issue
