Hello,
I have connected my Power BI desktop file to a MySQL datasource that is localhost connection. When I publish this file to the server and try to connect the set up gateway, I see this ....
There is already a connection set up but it doesn't show a drop down where it usually shows "Maps-to:".
I also tried creating my own connection but that doesn't work because the SQL developer has already set up a gateway and connection but I just can't seem to connect the two.
Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks for your help 🙂
Solved! Go to Solution.
The connection that you sql developer created must be shared with you to show up in your list. Also, the connection details in your report must match exactly with that setup on the gateway in order to show up.
I don't understand what the use of the gateway is though.
On desktop I connect directly to the SQL server. And on Power BI server I cannot connect directly (because the SQL server is not available in the internet).
The gateway is needed because your sql source is likely in your corporate network, which the service cannot access directly. So it uses the gateway to access the source. The service can talk to the gateway and the gateway can talk to your source.
So the SQL developer has shared it with me. I think the issue is the connection details don't match. Thank you!
