Hi Team,
Got little confusion on where a On Premise Gateway should be installed. What I have read so far is we should install gateway on same subnet of production data server.
My Power BI Tenant is located in East US 2 (Virginia) location. If my on premise production datasource let's say SQL server or HANA exists in some other data center, where should gateway be installed? Nearer to datasource or nearer to Power BI tenant
In either case, how would it help to improve queries?
TIA.
According to the docs, I believe you want it nearer to the data source. This could be for caching purposes, fast reads from the data source where the information is cached and compressed in-memory so that it speeds up transfer to the Power BI Service versus high latency reading during the initial process and only marginally better speed to the Service.
Disk I/O, always the bottleneck.
