GWPipeline_Client_GatewayUnreachable Issue

Hi,

I am getting errors with scheduled refreshes of Power BI report.

Datasource Error : {"error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Client_GatewayUnreachable","pbi.error":{"code":"DM_GWPipeline_Client_GatewayUnreachable","parameters":{},"details":[],"exceptionCulprit":1}}}

When the report runs on a schedule, it gives an error. However, when I run the report on demand within a range of 5-10 minutes, it runs successfully.

Solutions I have tried:

  1. Restarting the On-Premises Data Gateway.
  2. Upgrading the gateway version.
  3. Restarting the VM where the gateway is installed.

Despite trying these solutions, I am still encountering the error daily.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

    Can you make sure that you've got the latest version of the gateway installed, as well as to make sure that you've got the latest drivers and software installed on your gateway virtual machine? The. final thing to do would be is to enable the logs in the gateway to see potentially when the errors are occurring. Troubleshoot the on-premises data gateway | Microsoft Learn

    Hi, Anonymous

    Thanks for the reply from GilbertQ , please allow me to provide addition:

    You can view the gateway logs, which can provide a deeper understanding of what might be causing connectivity issues. You can collect and view logs as described in the Collect logs from an on-premises data gateway app documentation. Look for any errors or warnings that occur when a scheduled refresh fails. You can see:

    Because the issue occurs during a scheduled refresh and not when triggered manually, it may be related to the network configuration or throttling applied during a non-interactive session. Ensure that any firewall or network device configuration allows the gateway to communicate consistently with the Power BI service endpoint. You may need to work with the network team to ensure that the necessary URLs and ports are allowed. For more information, see the Power BI URL and IP address range documentation:
