Frequent Re-sign In Required with 'Analyze in Excel' for Power BI Online Dataset

Hello Power BI Community,

I am facing a recurring issue with the 'Analyze in Excel' feature, specifically when it connects to a dataset in Power BI online. This process used to work smoothly, but recently it began requiring me to re-sign in every time I run a macro on my virtual server, leading to process failure unless I manually sign in each time.

Details of the Issue:

  • Nature of the Problem: Need for repeated re-authentication when using 'Analyze in Excel' with a Power BI online dataset.
  • Recent Changes: There have been no changes to my system setup prior to this issue.
  • Frequency of Issue: Happens every time the macro is executed.
  • Excel Version: Latest (as it is up to date)

I am looking for any guidance or solutions to resolve this inconvenience. Is anyone else experiencing similar issues? Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello,

I also face the same issue since last week. I changed the connection string from MSOLAP.8 to MSOLAP.7 and it worked for me.

I have noticed this to. Everytime an Analyze in Excel refresh is kicked off it forces relogin. This is a huge issue.

Please help me! Anyone? My task scheduler runs 3 VBS scripts, and now for somereason - I have to manually sign in each time. Before this was automated process on server - that didnt need sign in before - because even though it is connecting to BI Service - the Excel file was already signed in on account.

I would understand the odd sign in here and there for security reasons - but now even it I run it 2 minutes later I need to resign in again. And even when I resign in I can see it auto signs in as my credentials are embedded - yet still I have to manually click it.

This will ruin our server feature. I am now the server!
