Free User access to Premium Workspace Capacity content
Hi all,
My organisation just recently started it's Power BI journey. We have a premium licence and have allocated our workspaces to the P1 capacity. My understanding was that provided users had access to the published apps, they should be able to access the dashboards.
What we are finding however, is that free users are only able to access the dashboards once they have been added to the data source Row Level Security section - this is despite us not implementing any RLS within our dashboards to this point.
Can anyone please explain if this is expected behaviour? If not does anyone have any idea why this is occuring?
All our dashboards are using imported datasets, so I assume that rules out any gateway issues.

hi Anonymous - Great, providing report access through published apps is the better approach to share reports with Users.
But in addition we also need to provide access to Users to the underlying dataset for them to view the data in the reports.
A more maintainable approach to providing access at dataset level is using Active Directory groups - this way you do not have to go into Power BI service every time you need to add/remove users - and maintain this using the AD group.

hi Anonymous - Even though your organization has a premium licence, reports will be only visible to Non-Pro users who have "Viewer" access to the reports - hence you will have to provide Viewer access to the reports once you have published to the service
