File contains corrupted data

Dashboard was refreshing normally and suddenly I started to receive this type of error when trying to refresh from Power BI Service. However, the dashboard refreshes normally from the Power BI Desktop version.

  • Hi,

According to my research, this issue can be caused by multiple reasons, you can have a check:

    Core excel > 30MB
    Excel has password
    Permission issue
    Corrupted model
Wrong type, error format, value issue, etc.

If you still have a problem, you can try these steps to find if they can be useful:

First, make sure the PBI desktop is the latest version.
Then please delete the data source (File -> Options and Settings -> Data Source Settings) and reconnect to see if it works.
Please make sure all permission and credentials are correct.

    Thank you very much!

I found out there is an Excel sheet with "Highly Confidential" sensitivity, I excluded it from report refresh and it worked 🙂 I hope this was just the issue.

      Thanks.

  • Hi v-nmohamed

Can you make sure you have got the latest version of Power BI Desktop installed, also make sure you have got the latest version of the On-Premise gateway installed and see if that solves your issue?

    Hello Gilbert,
I have the latest Power BI Desktop version and same for gateway but problem still persists. It works for other dashboards to be published on same workspace without any problem.. Same version same workspace and same everything but different dashboards.. there is a problem with this one specifically and the issue is not clear.

  • Hi v-nmohamed

It looks to me like that could be a corruption issue

What happens if you re-upload the PBIX file?

Same problem happens.. the pbix starts to refresh again and then this error pops up.
