Field parameters in Power BI dataset

Hello everyone,

I would like to create a field parameter directly in my Power BI dataset.

Does someone know if it's possible ? I tried to do it throught Tabular Editor by creating a calculated table but it did no succeed.

Thanks for your help !

Hi @Anonymous

This is a brand new feature and I am sure it will be coming to Tabular Editor soon. I know it is not there yet...

What I would suggest as a workaround is to create it in Power BI Desktop, the use ALM toolkit and just deploy the changes to your Power BI Dataset (The dataset has to be in PPU or Premuium to deploy the change)

Hello @GilbertQ ,

Thanks for your answer !

Your solution worked, I succeed in creating a field parameter directly in my Power BI dataset. Please find below the process I have done to achieve this :

1 - Create a Power BI report and connect it to your Power BI dataset

2 - Set up the connection to "Direct Query" to allow the creation of field parameters

3 - Create your field parameter in Power BI Desktop

4 - Go on ALM Toolkit and compare your Power BI Dataset with your Power BI Report (in which you have created your field parameter)

5 - Deploy your field parameter in your Power BI Dataset

6 - Refresh the partition of the new created table (your field parameter)

7 - Enjoy !

Thanks again @GilbertQ !
