Good day Development Team,
I am writing to propose a few feature enhancements that would significantly improve map visualizations and geospatial analysis within MS Fabric and Power BI. These features would provide users with more dynamic, interactive, and actionable mapping capabilities:
1. Dynamic Search Box for Location or Address Visualization:
- A search bar allowing users to search for specific locations, addresses, or Military Grid Reference System (MGRS) points.
- Once a location is entered, the map would dynamically display that point in relation to already plotted data (e.g., seeing a searched point in relation to previously plotted house or store data).
- This would greatly enhance the ability to contextualize search results within existing datasets.
2. Drawing Tool for Distance Measurement:
- The ability to use a drawing tool directly on the map to measure distances in miles or kilometers.
- Users could draw a line (or multiple segments) between points on the map, and the total distance would be displayed dynamically.
- This feature would be particularly valuable for planning, logistics, and geographical analysis tasks.
3. Dynamic Route Plotting with Plotted Data Integration:
- A feature to plot a route between a start and destination point directly on the map visualization.
- The plotted route would be displayed in context with existing mapped data, such as stores or other points of interest along the route.
- This functionality would empower users to visualize how routes interact with existing datasets, aiding in decision-making and route optimization.
These enhancements would bring unparalleled interactivity and usability to geospatial visualizations in Power BI and MS Fabric, allowing users to perform advanced mapping analyses without needing to rely on external tools.
I believe these additions align with the goal of making Power BI a comprehensive, user-friendly analytics platform. I hope the team considers these suggestions for future updates.
Thank you for your hard work and continuous innovation!
