Failed to refresh combined model

Hi

I have 2 models published out on the service. One automatically refreshesevery 2 hours as all the data comes from Microsoft dynamics . The other one is done weekly using downlaoded spreadhseets, refreshed in desktop them published out

I created a combined model using the get data Power BI datasets. This model works fine refreshing in desktop, but once published othe service it is just dead in the water. I assumed it woudl pic up changes to the other 2 models automatically?

Instead i get this error if I try to manaully refresh it. I dont understrand the point of combined modles if the data doesn't update?  Can anyone explain as doesn't make sense to me?

Thank for any advice

Mike

Hi @masplin

This is not working because you cannot have a calculated table or column which is connected to another dataset which is using DirectQuery.

What it appears is that your dynamics model is using DirectQuery which is causing the error when combining the datasets

There doenst seem any choice but to use direct query.   so once you have combined your datset you can use measures, but not calcuated columns/table in the new combined model?  It apears the data has started updating if I just hit refresh the webpage it picks up latest from the 2 underlying models so maybe it doens't need refreshing. Wasnt sure how a combined modle got updated.
