Fabric Medallion Question
Hi
Firstly, I hope I am asking the question in the right forum.
I have a Fabric Medallion structure which I have started using. I can see how to assign silver / gold / bronze and the rest of the tasks. Using the paperclip etc as in the screenshot below
However, one of the tasks is not in the correct place and I wanted to unassign it / remove it and possible as there is no option. There may be a simple way to do this. Please note that it was accidently assigned and if it is removed it will not make in difference to anything as there are no real jobs attached to it.
Is there a way to do this that I have missed - or it the task just going to remain there.
Apologies if this is a simple question as I said I am quite new to this!
Thanks
Karen
Hi,
The Medallion structure UI in Microsoft Fabric can be a bit confusing when you first start using it.
At the moment, there is no direct “unassign” or “remove from medallion layer” option available once a task/item has been assigned to Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc. in the workspace view.
A couple of things you can try:
- Check if the item can be reassigned to another layer instead.
- Refresh the workspace/browser session to make sure the change was not cached.
- If the task was only accidentally assigned and has no jobs or dependencies attached, it generally will not impact functionality.
Unfortunately, if the UI does not show a remove option, the item may simply remain assigned for now due to current product limitations.
Hope this helps!
Thanks!

Hi SamInogic
Thank you for you reply.
This all makes sense to me. If the functionality is just not there yet to unassign the object from the layer I will need to keep the task on the medallion. It has no dependencies etc as it was accidentally assigned as well. I just have to wait until the functionality arrives!
I will look created a fabric idea but doubt it will get anywhere .... Fabric Medallion - Unassign task - Microsoft Fabric Community
Thanks for your help, appreciated.
