Extracting power BI Usage logs without powerBI portal admin access

Hi All,

I want to extract the Power BI Usage logs from app.powerBi.com. I don't have admin access over the portal. Is there any way we can extract the usage logs of all the dashboards published in different workspaces, I am trying to build dashboard on usage of all the dashboards in different workspaces in app.powerBi.com.

Thanks for your support.

Thanks

Rajesh

Hi @Rajeshthummala -Without having Power BI Admin access, extracting detailed usage logs from app.powerbi.com across all dashboards and workspaces is challenging because access to Power BI Activity Logs and Power BI Audit Logs typically requires administrative privileges.

But power bi allows you to view report-specific usage metrics if you are the owner or have access to the reports in a given workspace.Go to a report in app.powerbi.com, and under the report’s settings, you can view usage metrics such as views, unique users, average time spent, and more. You can export these usage metrics into Excel for further analysis and dashboard building.

If you have access to specific workspaces and reports, you can use the Power BI REST API to extract usage data programmatically. The API provides some capabilities to retrieve details about reports and datasets.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Rajeshthummala ,

Based on the description, try using Power BI REST API to get usage activities.
