External unable to connect to the data source - analysis services

Hi,

I have a PowerBI paginated report connected to SQL & PowerBI datasets and one person can't access to the report. the error says

"there was an error communicating with Analysis Services. Please vergy that the data source is available and your credentials are correc. No OLE DB error information found
dobregon_0-1676452622845.png

If all the people can't access to the report.. ok, but it is only one person that can't access.

I have this person added to the permissions to see the report, the datasets, et, but i can'0t find why it can access to the report. Other thing is that she can access to other BI reports in the premium workspace, so it seems a problem with the paginated report and connection with the SQL.. Maybe something with the drivers of analyze in excel that she needs to install?

Can someone help me?

Hi @dobregon ,

The error message states that the problem is connecting to "Analysis Services" so that means to me that you are  letting people get all the way through to the SQL data source, right?  If so, then this individual needs to have rights to SQL as well.

Hi @collinq

this is an external guy from another company.. it is curious becasue other companies from that external companie can access to the report. and the user in our tenant has the same permissions.

so, i dont know if the issue is in our side or it is a driver that it is missing in their side.

Hey @dobregon ,

I think that narrows it down a bit.  If other people from the same company can acces it then we can rule out firewalls and network issues.  And, that pretty much makes it a user issue.  So, that means either the permissions are different on your side for this user OR, they don't have something on their machine that everybody else has (OR, their machine /userid has a block that other users don't have - something like "can't get out of our network" kind of thing which is dependent usually on how the connect - maybe they are using VPN or not using VPN and everybody on their network is the opposite).

Hey @dobregon ,

Yes, I agree that the issue could be their drivers.
