External sharing of restricted PBI dataset

We want to share a sample of our main PBI dataset/database with a client, who is mostly interested in the datamodel and how our measures etc. have been calculated.

But I can't seem to find a solution where we are able to restrict the client's overall data access (e.g. number of rows in a table - did attempt with RLS but doesn't work when configured as more than "Viewer"), and still enable them to download a dataset and manipulate and view measures.

Hi @BI12345,

If you would like a user been restricted by RLS, then you could only add this user as Viewer to the dataset workspace. Any roles greater than Viewer won’t been applied RLS for they can see all the report data. But if you hope this user download a pbix file from dataset, this user needs to be at least a Contributor. Download a report from the Power BI service to Power BI Desktop - Power BI | Microsoft Learn.
