External Users No Longer Have Access
We have a bunch of external users from a partner company who, up until a fortnight ago, were able to access an few apps containing reports. It's slightly outside my sphere of knowledge about what needed to be done, but it was working.
Now, however, they're all getting a 'We don't recognise you. Are your credentials correct?' error message with a picture of an owl (or, as my colleague suggested, a fat penguin). It's only people accessing externally (i.e. outside our tenant).
As far as I'm concerned, as the person responsible for the Power BI platform, nothing on our end has changed. Has Microsoft snuck through an update that I've been utterly unaware of? If they have, what do I need to do to reinstate peoples' access?

Hi Mat42 ,
Ensure that Microsoft Entra B2B settings are correctly configured to allow external users to access Power BI content. This includes checking that external users are still invited and accepted as guest users in the tenant. More details can be found in the documentation: Distribute content to external guest users with Microsoft Entra B2B - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
To create or update an application, a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licence is required. For application users, there are two options.
(1) If the workspace for this application is not in Power BI Premium capacity: All business users need a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licence to view the application.
(2) If this application's workspace is in Power BI Premium capacity/F64 or higher structured capacity: business users in the organisation who do not have a Power BI Pro or Premium Per User (PPU) licence can view the application content. However, they cannot replicate reports or create reports based on the underlying semantic model.
More details can be found in the documentation: Publish an app in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft LearnAdditionally, this is a technical whitepaper outlining how to distribute content to users external to your organisation using Microsoft Entra ID (formerly known as Azure Active Directory) business-to-business (Microsoft Entra B2B) integration.

Hi Anonymous, thanks for the reply.
Has something changed in the shift from Azure AD to Entra ID? I don't have access to Entra, so I have to make a request for our IT to check and want to make sure I point them in the right direction because, at the minute, they are saying it's a Power BI issue.
I'll admit to being confused because Azure is not something I know a lot about. It was all working until recently, and none of the guidance addresses any problems the change might have caused; it all just talks about 'How to share' not 'If it worked before, but now it doesn't, here's where the problem might be'.
I accepted your reply as the solution because it tells me what needs to be done to share, so basically answers my question, I'd just like to know more about why it happened.
