External Access to report with Sharepoint Folder data
Hi Power BI Community 🙂
I am building a report with the data from SharePoint folder, and I will publish the report to the service later.
My question is that:
I will share the online report with some external customers, who does not have the access to the SharePoint folder that this report is based on. Will they still be able to view the data of this report? Or we need to also grant them the read-access to the SharePoint folder?

When you share the report to a person they do not have to have to have underlying data source permissions (assuming they are not working with the data source/data set). This is the same if your data source is in SQL, OneDrive or SharePoint or wherever else. The key, as always, is based on your security and what the people that you are sharing with want and need to do. And, this goes to refreshing the data as well- whether you use gateway or not.
