Exporting from a matrix includes *all* levels, not just the aggregate

My organization is unable to export correctly from a matrix. When we click the Export option from a matrix, even if you select the "Summarized data" option, the export includes every drill level even though the matrix is displaying only the highest, summarized level. For example, a matrix that shows 20 records might produce an export of 100k+ rows because the export is forcing all levels of data to be included. Many times, the export takes close to 1 hour and even then it doesn't work because there are > 150k records (the max limit).

How can we export data from a matrix so that only what is shown in the matrix gets included in the export file?

Hi @tsf,

Are you showing data with hierarchy on the matrix visual? If that is the case, the data will be exported for all levels in the hierarchy. And I don't think there is an option to change this behavior currently.

So I would suggest you add it as an idea on Power BI Ideas forum to improve Power BI on this feature. Smiley Happy
