Dear Tzvi
Enjoy? After waiting almost a year - I thougth that we get an awsome feature. But the export to PPT is far away of what your customers asked for. The idea was to have a feature enabling us to work more efficient with reports on paper, but what has been released is probably not usable for the most of the 4000+ supporter of the idea. To get the same result, I just print the report as PDF... So there is no benefit - except having single pictures of what I got also with a screenshot. I'm still not able to export the reports in a propper way in our CI/CD, there is no template setting, no filtering, each report with custom visuals is not usable, no export schedule or report subscription.
We continue to print the screen of our 20 page reports filtered for HQ and 18 subsidiaries (360 Screenshots each week) as we had to do before and start looking to a third party tool.
In my opinion, it is just sad that Microsoft can't properly implement their own Office Products into their solution - we faced the same with CRM2011/2016 where we had to implement 3rd party solution to print content to Word/PDF.
Personally, I'm highly disappointed and angry, because I internally "sold" a "solution is coming soon" since April to the management. We have 400+ PBI Pro licences - and are still not able to get the reports properly on paper for management review and official reporting issues.
Regards Patrick

Hi Patrick,
I'm sorry to hear your dissapointment from the feature. The benefit over taking screenshots or printing to PDF is getting single high-resolution images, which you can then use in your own presentation and resize it without it looking pixelated. Looks like this is not the case for you.
This feature is still in preview and we are working to improve it. custom visuals will be supported.
report subscription is a different ask and already in the works:
Thanks,
Tzvi

Thank you very much for the hard work, Microsoft Team!
It would be nice to have custom visuals working and interactive features function in the future! :)

Good feature, but got blindsided when I tried to use filters.
We have reports that have default filters on them. Consumers of the report (no edit permission), changed the filters and when exporting to PowerPoint the current filters weren't honored. So wrong report was generated :(
Folks went back to doing screen shots or other ways around.
Overall, good progress on the feature, but quite not usuable yet in our case.

That's pretty slick. It seemed to duplicate some of my Text boxes and some of my card visualizations it didn't seem to honor all of my settings but overall, really, really cool. That's awesome!

I had the same thing with text boxes. Seems that if a text box is overlapping another chart the image for the chart will pick up the text too. Overall, it looks great and I'll be able to use this feature right away. Now hopefully R and custom visuals support will be added shortly.

tzvikei I saw this last night and started playing right away. I experienced why there is a high recommendation to remove background images, will that be a resolved issue in the future or will it always be recommended to keep the images removed?

Thank you for the work done.
But unfortunately my export did not work well.
Not all elements are exported, some are missed, alignment is broken, size of elements differs from the original.
In general cannot use it in work yet.

Dear Microsoft Power BI Team,
I really really like Power BI, and I REALLY hope you make the PPT export function work properly. Currently it has a lot of small detailed issues that make using it pretty much useless. Just make it print out what I see in Power BI as is, static pictures are just fine. Currently it is not possible and make working with it extremenly frustrating. Here is a list of issues I've encoutered:
-If a graph's edege (the stupid large white box surrounding every graph that makes placing stuff at edges impossible!) is on top of another graph the export does not function properly. Once you move one of those images in PPT you notice part of the graph is actually part of the other picture, I'll send an image to the email address you provided in the previous post.
-If a graph does not have a background the export picture should also not have a background. Why? Because I want to use in PPT slide master to finish the visual look, as visual functionalities are very limited in Power BI. Currently this is not possible, as imported pictures to PPT have background.
-Some exported graphs with background leave small white lines, I'll send an image to the provided email address
-Category label text are cut off in the PPT export even though they are not in Power BI, will also send an email of the issue
-Custom page size is not supported. The exported pictures are all over the PPT slide, not even hitting the actual slide. They are outside the PPT slide! Why I use custom page size? Well, because the graph visual editing functionalities are limited and I need to get more room to avoid the freaking scrolling bar inside a bar graph or table. Please fix that also!
-exported text is not aligned as defined in Power BI, text somehow always get centered in the export
-if text on top of a box -> everything get just messed up in the export and makes it totally useless
-text boxes sometimes duplicated twice
-using background image makes the export useless (this has come up in the forum quite a lot and thank you for fixing it in the future)
-Only 15 pages, I create project reports for customers and the reports are long, support at least 50 pages
Thanks! Will update the list as I encouter bugs.
Please, pretty please, fix this stuff! Would help a lot in creating reports faster
Kind regards,
Ilkka M.

Clearly what people want is split into two seperate areas:
- Interactive PowerPoints
- The ability to have a print out of a report that mirrors the online version
As Ikeumlaut said "Just make it print out what I see in Power BI as is, static pictures are just fine." This is the side that I think is important and in my opinion if the print function of reports actually worked this would solve this.
In IE there is no preview option for printing, in Chrome there is a preview but the reports are still not an exact replica of the report (visuals/lines cut off etc) and also the fact that images that are in reports dont print out is a big issue.
In an ideal world people would meet around a screen and discuss visuals etc but a lot of the time people want a print out to go with these meetings and at the moment its a painful screenshot and stitch these together in paint process.
I hope this feedback is useful.

I agree with jcarville. The print options are very buggy for each browser and in the end don't work. Static images should be the most important item first and if they don't get to Power Point in the format you see as well with the filters you've added it makes both the print function and export to power point not usefulunfortunately.

It's been almost 3 years since this preview feature is released. We definietly want the page 15 limitation to be removed. As a workaround, we are splitting the pbix reports into increments of 15 and then merging into a master power point deck. I am sure lot of community members are unhappy with this feature and many more in preview mode. Can this be implemented and the overall export to power point is released to general ?

I just wanted to add that I'm in the same boat. I've had to split a report into separate report files, delete down the number of pages to reach the max of 15, export to PowerPoint, then stitch them all back together again in a single file. Painful!!
I know that everyone would like us to work in an always-connected world, but that's not yet a reality.

Thanks for your feedback!
- On the roadmap: custom visuals, filters, support more than 15 pages
- interactive reports, refreshable content directly from PPT are not on the roadmap for now
- As for the cover page, it can be easily replaced by your own slide (remember, this is PowerPoint :smileyvery-happy:)

This looks pretty great! I'm definitely excited to be able to use this for board presentations rather than screencapping page after page of reports.
I know not everyone will agree with this, but I really like the fact that it doesn't connect to live data - we often go back and look at slides from previous months, and a live connection would make that very difficult. I love being able to re-size individual elements and have it look great.
A few things:
- On the title page, the box that says "Last data refresh" is very misleading - that's the last time I uploaded a new version of the data model, not the last time the data was refreshed (from daily auto refreshes).
- Also on the title page, the box that says "Downloaded at" doesn't appear to be adjusted for local time. I tested one this morning and it says it was downloaded today at 2:27 PM, but it was actually 9:27 AM.
- It's a bummer that I can't change slicer selections and then re-export to Power Point. I've designed a fair number of reports so that they can be screencapped, slicer selections adjusted, and then screencapped again. It saves us from having a ton of nearly identical pages in the PBI report. Hopefully that will work eventually.
- A large number of my tables are getting re-sized and cut off, which means I can't use them in final presentations.
- The borders on a few objects are either missing or are thinner than the other borders, which can make it look like I was trying to make the object look 3D (yuck!).

Hi norahfox,
Thank you for taking the time to write your feedback, it is very helpful for us to improve the service.
To your specific points:
- Looks like a potential bug, we are looking into it
- This is a known issue. we don't have a way to know what is your local time, so we use GMT
- capturing in-session interactions (slicer state among them) is on the roadmap. meanwhile, it might be efffective for you to save a copy of the report with the current slicer state and then export this report to PPT (hopefully the number of variations is not too big)
- can you share the screenshots of those damaged tables and borders? you can send to [email protected]
Thanks,
Tzvi

Hi,
I have created custom visuals for a client. There is a requirement to export dashboards along with the custom visuals to powerpoint. I am aware that custom visuals currently cannot be exported to excel.
When can we expect this feature to be included.
Thanks

Passing on client feedback as I think you'll find it relevant. The general scenario is for time savings in creating these PPTX decks so much of their feedback focuses on that aspect. The clients are typically business centric users, not techies. They are posting to a central location, emailing to vendors, etc.
Assume the final recipient of the deck has zero connectivity to the data source. The user wants to control what the final recipient sees so interactivity is not valuable.
First, they want the ability to select the reports in a data model to download. Otherwise, their next workflow step is to go through the download and delete what they don't want.
A pop-up would suffice for now, though long term, the ability to create multiple download profiles for a data model would be great. Any reports that are sized for Cortana should be excluded automatically for download. I can see filters being part of the download profiles as an enhancement.
Second, as branding is huge for many clients, they need the ability to download into a designated PPTX template. Otherwise, they have to copy/paste the download to an approved PPTX template. Some use 4:3, some use 16:9 so there's that aspect to consider as well.
Overall, it's been very well received.
