Export data to excel - rows limitation

Hi,

I am using PowerBI Desktop to develop reports for our customers and publish to PowerBI Service + PowerBI Embedded.

There is a restriction to download the entire data from a table visual in PowerBI Embedded (Maximum rows for Excel is 30,000 and CSV is 150,000).

Already tried hard to google around and the workarounds are all about using tools like R script, DAX Studio, Power Shell, Analyze in Excel, Paginated Report.....etc. All these solutions can only be used by PowerBI Administrators or Developers that requires connection to our dataset but not for end-users / customers who are using our PowerBI reports through PowerBI Embedded.

I would like to see if there are other alternatives that can be suggested for PowerBI Embedded users (external users) for downloading the entire data from a visual without any row restrictions, and the way to extract the data must be user-friendly and codes-free especially for non-technical users.

Thanks.

Best regards,

Emily

Hi@Anonymous,

These are certain limitations and considerations in exporting data that apply to both the Power BI Desktop and Power BI Service versions as well as in all the plans including the Power BI Pro and Premium plans. It's all by design.

I'm afraid your needs may not be met right now, perhaps you can submit the requirement to ideas and add your comments there to make this feature coming sooner: https://ideas.powerbi.com

Hope it helps.

Best Regards,

Caitlyn Yan
