Export Reports as PBIX after using Rebind Report

Hey everyone,

we are facing the following problem: We are using a large number of reports over multiple datasets and workspaces. The reports are mostly created by our users in the PowerBI web interface, not via PowerBI-Desktop. Because of the growing number of reports and the work that went into them, we would like to implement some sort of versioning and backup.

Unfortunatley we are unable to export the reports created on the Web UI (with a live connection) as PBIX files, because we previously used the "Rebind Report" API endpoint to facilitate a migration from a legacy dataset without recreating the reports.

Is there any other way to export, version or backup the reports or is support for this planned in the future? Currently I see a significant risk of e.g. a dataset and all corresponding reports being accidentally deleted with no way to recover. We do have PBIX files for our datasets.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi @restlessmodem ,

As far as I know, this is currently not possible, but you could vote for the idea at Ideas (powerbi.com)
