Excel to PowerPoint connection: Enter password each time you open a file

Hello every one!

Given:
1. Corporate PowerBI, corporate Excel.
2. From Excel we connect to the PowerBI dataset, everything works.

Problem:
Every time the user opens such a file, he must enter his credentials, although he has already entered Windows under these credentials, he is in Excel under these credentials. How to save the user from having to enter a password every time?

Hello @vladislavegorov

Did you tried this

  • Go to Data > Properties > Definition > Connection String.
  • Change "Provider=MSOLAP.8" to "Provider=MSOLAP.7".
  • Remove "Catalog Rebound=True;" from the connection string.
Note: It will ask for credentials only once again. Then save, close the workbook, open it back up, press refresh all

Hi @vladislavegorov ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric community.  Besides the solution from @nilendraFabric , here are a few more points that might help.

  • Configure Single Sign-On (SSO) for Power BI and Excel.
  • Update both Excel and Power BI to the latest version.
  • Clear all cache data.

If my answer addressed your query, please mark it as the Accepted Solution so that others can easily find the solution. I would also appreciate a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.
