Excel in Power BI App

I'm looking to share some Excel documents that connect to my semantic model. As a test, I added one of these Excel docs to a Workspace and an App. All is well until I try to interact with the pivot table which is connected to my semantic model. I get the error "We were unable to refresh one or more data connections in this workbook." Does anyone know if there's a way to make this work. My Power BI credentials are the same as the ones that should be used by the OLAP connection in the Excel doc.

Hi @delish_hins

As far as I'm aware, it is not possible to embed Excel within a power bi app. You have to click out and edit the Excel file in Excel online.

Hi @delish_hins ,

Thank you for reaching out to us on the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Your organization's tenant administrator must enable the Users can work with Power BI semantic models in Excel using a live connection setting.
Some versions of Excel or Power BI have compatibility issues, for example well-known problems with some MSOLAP drivers, which can be a problem for creating Pivot Tables when connected to Power BI semantic models.

Make sure that you have the required permissions to access the Power BI semantic model. You must have at least the Contributor role in the Power BI workspace where the semantic model is stored.

Here is the documentation link that will assist you:
