Excel Workbook as a Dataset

Hi:

Is it not possible to upload an Excel workbook to the Power BI Service and publish that workbook, as a dataset?

Thanks!

John

Hey @jellis1971 ,

I think the proper way now is to go the workspace that you want to use, go to New, Dataset:

And THEN select Excel and away you go.  That may have always been an option and new way to me, or, that is a newer method than I have used in the past, either way that worked for me!

Hi @jellis1971 ,

Yes you can (assuming you have the right permissions to do so).  In the Workspace, select Upload and upload the Excel file to your workspace.

Yes, I get that far.  But, how do you publish it as a dataset?  🙂

Hey @jellis1971 ,

It used to "just work" where you uploaded the file (and if the file was formatted correctly) it would become a dataset, as described in this article:

I will keep looking as this doesn't seem to be the case anymore....
