Error when trying to pin visuals - when dataset is downloaded from Service and published again.

I have a Power BI desktop installed on the server from which I can access MySql database. I use this Power BI desktop only to export datasets to the Power Bi Service (no reports are created in this instance of Power Bi Desktop). The idea is that my colleagues can use the datasets (exported by me) in a way that they click on a specific dataset in the Service, download it to a .pbix file, create reports in their own instances of Power Bi desktop and finally publish them in the Power Bi Service.

However, when a report is created and successfully published to the Power Bi Service, it turns out that the visualisations in this report can't be pinned to the dashboard. My colleagues get the message: "Sorry can't pin this visualisation yet. Try again later" and "We're working on this feature. Please send us any other feedback about Power BI".

This problem does not appear when a report is created in the instance of Power Bi Desktop located on the server. My colleagues that create reports in their local Power BI desktops can't use the Power Bi Desktop on the server.

Is there any solution to this problem given that my colleagues can't be granted the access to the server? Why Power BI desktop and Service can't be used in the way I described?

Hi @slawero,

What desktop version do you use? Some users may not be able to pin visuals from reports that were authored using the Power BI Desktop October or November updates. If you use October or November version. Please update it to latest version and check if it works fine.

Best Regards,
Angelia
