Hi,
I am trying to create a report with several data sources, including Power BI datasets. When I use only Power BI datasets (can be more than one) all works well. If I add another kind of datasource, such as an R Script, it works well in Power BI Desktop, but when I publish the report, I get errors:
- the visuals built from the Power BI datasets are not shown anymore ("Can't display visual" because "Couldn't retrieve the data")
- I also get the message that there is no available gateway. When I try to apply the same gateway as for all the other datasets, I get a general error message ("Failed to use the selected gateway. Please make sure the gateway is up and running and try again." -- it is up and running and the other datasets update just fine)
- the credetials for the two Power BI datasets are also not set and I get an error when I try to set them
Am I doing something wrong or it simply isn't possible to combine a Power BI dataset with another datasource for the same report?
Thanks for your help!
hey,
several points to take on account:
- R script its only supported on power bi desktop and on the service if using personal gateway on the enterprise gateway isnt support
- if you trying to create new table or columns using a power bi dataset composite model direct query with another source this isnt possible, its a current limitation heres a trend to vote for a feature to fix this: https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Custom-Visuals-Ideas/Allow-Power-BI-Dataset-Direct-Query-composite-...
