Error using Tabular editor in Fabric Lakehouse Semantic Model

Initially I created a LakeHouse in Microsoft Fabric and then I created the model in the SQL Analytics endpoint, then I created a semantic model on top of the endpoint and at the end I created a report via the web. However, I needed to create a calculation group in the semantic model and connected via direct connection to the Tabular Editor, which allows you to create calculation groups. After having changed and saved in the Tabular Editor, I was never able to enter the semantic model again, with the error "Error Loading Data Model: Operation not supported for model with: ModifiedByXmlaEndpoint". Even the report stopped working and gives me an error too. I needed help understanding this bug and a possible solution.

Hi. This is not a bug, it's a known issue or limitation described here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/enterprise/directlake-overview#known-issues-and-limitatio...

  • Direct Lake models created or modified by using XMLA-based tools cannot be opened in the Web modelling feature.

Once you are using xmla with Tabular Editor, then you should keep using that. If you have Tabular Editor 3 you might be able to do everything you need in there. With 2 version I'm not sure.

I hope that helps,
