Error fetching data for this visual

Hi,

The PBIX is working fine on the Power BI Desktop app. But as soon as I publish it as report this error comes up- Error fetching data for this visual. This error started coming last week. Before that I had several versions that were working fine. But now none of those published versions are working. The data source to this report is the SharePoint Folder. Kindly help.

  • Hi Ibendlin,
    Thanks for the help.
It was a bug. I rebuild every visual with the error and now it is working fine. The bug was specially in the bar charts.

    Hello,

I know this post is from September 24, but is anyone still having this error? I am having the opposite happen to me whenever I have two or measures in one visual. All of the relationships are correct, but interestingly enough, mine displays this error in Power Bi desktop but works just fine in the Online Service. So the opposite of everyone else here! Thoughts?

Any resolution on this.  A report that I built and have been using for a while, no longer displays any visuals that contain a measure in the data or in the title.  I can write a super basic test measure and add to a card and I get an error fetching data.

Weirdly, they work perfect when I published to Power BI service.

Its completely stopped me being able to make amendments or add new items using measures

        Hi Damian,

This is the exact issue I was running into.

Unfortunatley there has been no fix for this in the November version. I ended up upgrading to the Jan version last week and everything seems fine on the newer version, also haven't ran into any bugs on it yet (fingers crossed)

  • This is happening in my company as well, started around 10 days ago. Everything was working fine, now suddenly the users get "error fetching data".
I think rebuilding is not a proper fix. Any other idea?

    Hi!

I do have the same issue when someone else from the company, except for me, access to the report on PowerBI Service online.
    Did you solve the issue?

    Thank you

      Hi!
There was a bug in the visual. I rebuild every visual and it is working fine now.
For your case, I am not sure what is the issue but you can check your gateway connection of the data and its access outside org.

      I think this would help.

        Hi!
I solved the issue last week, indeed it was a gateway connection issue due to missing permission from user's side.

Thank you anyway for your help!

        Cheers

I am receiving the same error in a published model.  The model connects via direct queries to a number of Poweri monitors in other countries for which I have been granted access to their sematic models.  This seems to be an intermittent issue.  Everything is fine for a moment and then a few hours later the error appears again.  In addition I am able to loade the monitor without any errors and a few colleagues can load the model without any errors, however when people in some other countries try and load the report they have the intermittent issue.
Any ideas what thsi could e?

  • My external users (with personal email addresses) too reported this error this morning which is yet to be fixed. I have no issue viewing the visuals using my company account.

  • Use Performance Monitor in Power BI Desktop to get the DAX query for one of the offending visuals. Use DAX Studio to connect to the semantic model. Run the DAX query there and examine the query plan and server timings.

Hi,I can access the dashboard, but unfortunately, the visualizations are not displaying properly. I've attempted to access  from multiple devices and browsers, including laptop, smartphone, and web browsers, but consistently encounter the same error.  Kindly help!

    Hi my friend,
What do you mean by rebuilding? Just take over the measures of the visual is enough? I have tried here and didn't work it. Thank you!

      Hi Lucas,

By rebuilding I mean deleting the measures and making them again, tried this myself but was not successful. This looks to be something that happens with a 32x version rather than 64x, at least from past conversations about this issue

won't be an issue for much longer as the 32 bit version will stop being supported after June 2025.

  • Similar issue. I set up views in my PBI reports for an external-facing client Demo. I set up all of the views 30 minutes before the start of the 1-hour presentation and Demo. The Demo started after the presentation, one hour after the views were set up. By the time I showed the client the Demo, several filters and analytics generated this error:

Error fetching data for this visual

    ClientError_TokenExpired

NOT A GOOD LOOK for a client-facing Demo.
